Karlsruhe: Attractions and more...
Gottesaue Palace

The Gottesaue Palace is an architectural counterbalance of the Karlsruhe Palace. In the 11th century, it was established as a Benedictine Abbey and further was destroyed and restored several times in history. Currently, it is being used as a music college. It is located in Oststadt District and is of the Renaissance style.

Market Square

A pyramid, municipal church and town hall can be seen at the location of the Market Square. The pyramid is the most popular landmark of the city. It was constructed by Friedrich Weinbrenner at the place where the first church of the city was built. The remains of the founder of the city, Margrave Karl Wilhelm are in this pyramid. At the start of the 19th century, when Karlsruhe was redesigned to portray its importance as a seat of royal power, the Market Square was constructed in classical style.

Karlsruhe Palace

The founder of Karlsruhe, Margrave Karl Wilhelm constructed the Karlsruhe Palace along with its gardens as well as the Baden State Museum. This palace was built in the midst of a forest on an undeveloped piece of land. Close to the entrance of the palace are the beautiful grounds of the botanical gardens.
