Munich’s Museum Brandhorst is one of the primary cultural attractions in the city. It is housed in a modern building which belies expectations with its surprising interest and simple though textured and unsettling facades. There is a point behind its particular design though, it is built to conform as closely as possible to ecological sustainability and thus has shiny innovative lighting and ventilation systems.
The museum tends to house a lot of the major touring exhibitions in Germany and some of those that make their way around Europe. The exhibition spaces are comfortable though generic and there is nothing new about the presentation or the experience for viewing. That said it is in my opinion still well worth an afternoon or two depending on whether the current exhibition grabs your attention.
You can reach it by either tram, underground or bus, and one of these three is favoured by the museum itself, presumable for environmental reasons. By tram take Line 27: alight at Pinakotheken. On the underground take: U2: alight at Königsplatz or Theresienstrasse; U3/U6: alight at Odeonsplatz or Universität . Or by bus take Line 154: alight at Türkenstrasse, or
Line 100 and alight at Maxvorstadt.
