The city is generally safe but tourists need to take care about getting drugged or intoxicated so avoid drinks offered by strangers.
Munich is one of the very expensive cities so do not forget to bring all necessary clothing and accessories to avoid needless expenditure. The Euro is the local currency and since credit cards are not freely accepted in all places it is wiser to plan in advance.
The power voltage is higher compared to the US so it is better to bring a voltage regulator if you plan to use your laptop. Internet access can be expensive, so get information about rates charged in the hotel before accessing the net. Renting a car is expensive and parking is a major issue in big cities like Munich therefore it is better to use the public transport system as it is more effective and convenient.
