The metro service (subway) is the best way to travel in and around the city of Berlin. This service is available 24 hours a day.

The public transportation system, including the tram service, is operated by the ‘Berlin Transport Authority’ or ‘BVG’.
There are two types of tram stations in Berlin. These are Berlin S- Bahn and U- Bahn stations.

The S- Bahn trams function in the area previously known as East Berlin. Travellers can view the busy streets in the day time; at night, the city changes face. The trams slipping silently through lonely streets take passengers to their chosen destinations.

The newer trams have the added advantage of having the latest technology, which makes them comfortable and easy to use for disabled, older people and children.
Any type of city transit ticket is valid on the trams. In addition, tickets are available from onboard ticket machines.
