Otto Lilienthal was a German aviation pioneer, as well as the passion for flight was also an inventor eclectic.
Lilienthal showed that objects heavier than air were able to fly and that there was no dynamic movement of the wings, laying the foundation for work and success of the Wright Brothers, some years later, built and made to fly the first powered airplane.
Lilienthal in 1896 after losing control of his glider in one of his spectacular flight, crashing to the ground died.
Otto Lilienthal is also dedicated to the Berlin Tegel Airport.
In 1991, 100 years since its first flight, the museum was created in Anklam same name, hometown of Lilienthal.
The building houses several items which belonged to Otto Lilienthal including a reconstruction of a glider he designed.
In 1996, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the death of Lilienthal, the museum has been expanded.
The museum today is a modern technical museum and houses the largest collection in the world of reconstruction Lilienthal aircraft.

(in winter, the museum closes at 4 pm.)
