The Pergamon Museum is located on the Museum Island in Berlin. This site was actually designed by Ludwig Hoffman and Alfred Messel. The construction of this site took almost 20 years, from 1910 to 1930. This historic building houses original sized, monumental buildings which are reconstructed like the Market Gate of Miletus and the Pergamon Altar. All these parts have been transported from Turkey. Moreover, this museum is subdivided into the Middle East section, the antiquity collection and the Islamic art section. Each year, this site is visited by around 850,000 visitors which makes it the most visited art museum in Germany.
