Kurfürstendamm dates back to the 16th century to the time when Electoral Prince Joachim II constructed a path which connected to his palace on Unter den Linden with his lodge in Grunewald forest. It was in late 19th century that Bismarck transformed the street into a prestigious boulevard which was lined by striking town houses. However, due to the Second World War destruction and rebuilding of the street in decades, Kurfürstendamm is no longer the same beautiful street that it used to be. Yet, the locals call it ‘ Ku’ damm’, which is still a symbol of prosperity and wealth. Here, one can find various shopping stores.
