Pankow is the third borough of Berlin and to the east central of Germany. This neighborhood is situated on the Panke River and is known as an industrial center. Pankow was the seat of the East German Government prior to the German reunification in 1990. Moreover, it is recognized for its castles, large parks and gardens. During the 2001 administrative reform of Berlin, it got merged with the former boroughs of Prenzlauer Berg and Weibensee, resulting to the present name, Pankow. This neighborhood has an area of 103.07 square kilometers, with 362,051 inhabitants as per the 2007 census with density of 3.515 inhabitants per square kilometers.
