Heimatmuseum Schloss Schonebeck has a theme exhibition of a castle built in the 17th century in a meadow landscape of Auetales. It was a mansion rebuilt in 1972 in a town museum which got transformed with a specific flair. This museum takes its visitors to the era of sail and steam navigation. There are also display of whalers and herring logger. The exhibit tells the travels of the Africa researcher, Gerhard Rohlfs and of the beginnings of Lifeboat.
