Kreuzberg is situated in the heart of Berlin and is a borough of the German capital. The town is home to approximately 146,000 inhabitants, almost a third of which are temporary labourers from countries like Turkey and Greece.
Summers are the best time to visit with the average temperatures at 23°C. During winters, the temperatures often reach freezing point. Maximum rainfall is during winter while summers may just have the occasional shower.
In the nineteenth century, Berlin was going through rapid industrialisation, which resulted in a large influx of workers from the neighbouring areas. In a bid to solve the housing problem of these workers several neighbourhoods sprang up around the city, Kreuzberg is one such settlement.
