The Sprengel museum showcases the art of the 20th century and is known as one of the most notable art museums of the 20th and 21st century in Germany. The museum opened in 1979 and has collections of Dr. Bernhard Sprengel. There are works form the most important epochs of contemporary art. The museum has an average of 25 temporary exhibitions each year and has many symposia and different series of lectures too.
