Stralsund city situated in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany is to the southern coast of the Strelasund. The city has a wealth of interesting sights that both inhabitants and travelers can visit like the Brick Gothic historic center, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Then, there is the Old Market Square along with the Gothic Town Hall, both exceptional places to explore in the city. The St. Nicholas Church built in 1270 – 1360 is amazingly remarkable sight for the eyes. Another church, Saint James’s Church built in mid 14th century is worth visiting though major part of the historic building got damaged due to the World War II. Many also visit the largest church in this city, the Saint Mary’s Church built in Gothic style in 1383 – 1473.
Those who are looking for adventure and history can opt for visiting museums like the Oceanography Museum or the Franciscan monastery, known to be the oldest buildings in this town.
Stralsund is also a famous party town along the northern German coast - so there is plenty to do in the evenings as well!
As the town is driving distance from both Berlin and Hamburg, it makes a great day out if you are looking for some fresh air and a different feel to your experience of Germany.
