The best night out spots are divided into four distinct quarters. Gross St. Martin is the most obvious place often visited by the tourists and businessmen that manage to create a vibrant atmosphere. The Quartier Lateng, located in the southwestern zone near the university, is known for its trendy look and is the best place to mingle with the crowds. The Südstadt is the most stylish place in town while Belgisches Viertel is known to provide a more relaxed atmosphere. There are few bars and cafes that open before 9 pm but the bar owners compensate for this reality, by staying open until the wee hours of the morning. Rudolphplatz theatre, Roncalliplatz and Neumarkt are the places known for late night concerts, theatre plays, ballet performances and operas.
