Duesseldorf: Attractions and more...
Altstadt, old town, is the site for most of the older structures. St. Lambertus Church, with its strangely twisted spire, and St. Andreas Church are the two important churches here. More than 300 bars can be found in this area, giving it the title of ‘the longest bar in the world’; a taste of the ‘Altbier’, the famous local brew, is a must.
Kunstmuseum Düsseldorf houses a wide range of articles, from art to sculpture and glass to bronze and ceramics, covering the styles from the Middle Ages to modern art. Benrath Palace, a 200-year-old castle with its well-planned park, has been preserved in its original state.
Königsallee, popularly known as ‘Kö’, with its numerous boutiques and galleries, is considered the most chic and fashionable boulevard in the country.
A fun fair is hosted every July; it is a nine-day festival which includes a parade and hundreds of stalls. The festival culminates with a firework display on the last night.
