Linnich town is located in the Düren district of North Rhine - Westphalia state of Germany. It lies besides the River Rur. Jülich town is situated at about 10 kms from Linnich town on the north- west side.

According to the 2005 census, the population of the town is approximately 13, 821 people. The current city was founded in the year 1969. However, the roots of the city can be found in the historical anecdotes.

Some of the traces date back to 888 AD. The city is filled with several historical monuments and sites. The city possesses a well- established network of transportation. The city possesses an artistic facet as well.

One can visit several cultural centers spread across the city. The city features a seasonal temperate climate. Humidity is predominantly felt in the climate. Winters are chilly, like any other city in Germany.

On the other hand summers are warm, making it the ideal time to visit the city.
