Tourist Guide Münster
Munster, located in the western part of Germany, has a population of approximately 270,000 inhabitants. Air raids during World War II, almost entirely destroyed the city’s original centre, which has now been rebuilt to its original glory.
Munster’s proximity to the North Sea gives it a maritime climate. Summertime temperatures are moderate, ranging between 16°C and 22°C. January is the coldest month with the average temperature at 1.6°C.
The medieval city of Munster was built around the church and the fort in the area. Soon, a school was founded and a marketplace came up. Eventually, Munster was established. All through the Middle Ages, the area was troubled by one war after another. In World War II, it was an important military headquarter, and thus, it bore the brunt of many an attack by the Allied Forces.
