The War Museum of Athens is situated at Vassilissis Sophias Av. and Rizari 2. It remains closed on Mondays and on other days, it operates from 8:30AM to 2:30PM.
Inaugurated in 1975, it aims to preserve and display a fascinating collection of war mementoes, documentations of war-history and presentations of freedom-struggle.
The permanent exhibition of the museum is in room 1. Dedicated to antiquity, its spotlights the stone-age and early bronze-age, emphasizing the era of Mysenea. Room 2 represents the Greek history by means by drawings and photographs.
Byzantine period is depicted in room 3 while room 4 is reserved for the Frankish rule. Similarly, other rooms are devoted to war-history of a particular civilization and freedom-struggle. Mezzanine has a room dedicated to the 1st Greek airmen. The museum also houses a well-maintained library.
