Greece is known as the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Tourists can get a feel of the original Olympic excitement by visiting Olympia, which also has a well-visited Museum of the Olympic Games.
The historical city of Athens has got internationally recognized World Heritage Sites like the Acropolis, the Parthenon and the National Archaeological Museum. The Zappion Palace and Syntagma Square are also beautiful places to visit.
Discover the massive mountain fortress called Acrocorinth in the city of Corinth, the Palace of the Grand Masters and a sixteenth century Hamam (Turkish bath) at Rhodes. The six ancient rock monasteries at Meteora and the Triumphal Arch of Galerius at Thessaloniki make for perfect photographic spots.
Crete, largest of the Greek islands, has its own set of attractions. The most famed are the Minoan Palace of Knossos (home of the mythical Minotaur) and the Gorge of Samaria, which is the longest gorge in Europe.
