Tourist Guide Elasson
Elasson is a town and municipality in Larissa Prefecture, Greece. It is situated at the foot of Mount Olympus, the mythical abode of the twelve Olympian Gods.
The climate is Mediterranean with dry, hot summers and mild to cool winters. The temperature averages around 24°C to 11°C for the months of May to December and 1°C to 22°C from November to April.
Elasson has a population of about 7,300 people. The town is divided into the old and new city by the river Elessonitis. There are four bridges that connect the two cities.
Earlier, Elasson was not part of Greece because its battle for Greek annexation was unsuccessful. It was included in Greece only after the Balkan war when the Turks were finally defeated in 1912.
