The Theatre located in the town of Epidauro is of great archaeological importance. It is considered to be the most magnificent piece of architecture by the Greek. The theatre was designed by ‘Polykleitos the Younger’ in the fourth century BC. The excellent acoustics of the theatre is evidence of the advanced architectural skills of the Greeks. It is said that the sound of a pin being dropped on stage, can be heard clearly by each of the 14,000 spectators. The theatre is still used and presently, serves as the venue for various cultural events such as festivals and theatrical performances.
The Archaeological Museum of Epidauro houses findings from excavations held in the city along with sculptures and pottery. Located close to the ancient town is the Palia Epidauro beach which can be visited for its scenic beauty.
