The Greeks aren’t just famous for their grilled octopus or salads. Try the famous Souvlaki (meat grilled on a skewer) served with Tzatziki (a dip with yoghurt, olive oil, garlic and cucumbers), Paidakia (rack of lamb) and Spetzofai (grilled sausage, onions and pepper in wine). Deep fried salted cod served with Skordhalia (garlic potato dip) is also a popular speciality.
Wine is the national favourite among drinks, alongside traditional mixes of Raki, Tsipouro and Ouzo.
