The beaches of Ithaca provide tourists with many opportunities for entertainment. Those who enjoy water sports can engage in some snorkelling. The beaches are also a very good site for camping.
There are two important caves which can be visited in Ithaca. The first one is Nymph’s Cave located just outside Vathy. The other is Loizo’s Cave, situated on the northern part of the island near Stavros.
There are two Venetian Castles at the entrance of the natural harbour. Also, there is the monastery of the Virgin Mary which is open for visitors and has very beautiful icons and picturesque surroundings.
The Archaeological Museum of Vathy should be visited for its collection that contains excavation finds from Aetos and a remarkable collection of finds dated to the Geometric period.
In August, there are cultural festivals held here which include artists and orchestras from all over the world.
