Tourist Guide Kalavrita
Kalavrita is a town, municipality and province which comes under the prefecture of Aechea, Greece. It is situated at the foot of Mount Erymanthos in northern Peloponnese.
Majority of the municipality is covered with forests except for the region in south-east and south-west. The rest of the municipality is mainly farmland. With a Mediterranean climate, Kalavrita experiences hot, dry summers and mild winters. It does receive some snowfall in winters.
The population of the town of Kalavrita is 2,200.The town was a target of the Nazis in World War II, during which a large number of the male population of the town lost their lives. Today, a cross stands atop a hill in the town and serves as a memorial to those who were massacred.
