Kardamyla is a village located in the prefecture and island of Chios, Greece. It has a port, Marmaro, built at the head of the natural harbour.
The village is divided into two settlements: The upper section is the old settlement which is spread at the foot of a steep hill, and the lower section, the village of Marmaro, is located on the coast in the inner side of a bay, and is at a distance of about 2 km from the old settlement.
The town has a Mediterranean climate with moderate temperatures, staying below 29°C in summers and above 0°C in winters. Hence, summers are not too warm and winters are mild.
The population of the town is approximately 2,100. Keeping with the nautical tradition of the place, most of the inhabitants are occupied with navigation. Kardamyla is popularly referred to as ‘the maritime village’.
