The capital city of Larissa has a distinct culture. Museum and art galleries are a common feature of this town. The Mediaeval Fortress, Alcazar Park and the Theatre are certain sites which must be visited. Those with a penchant for art will enjoy visiting the Larissa Municipal Art Gallery for its fine and exquisite collection of beautiful paintings.
The Archaeological Museum is definitely worth a visit for its vast collection, especially the artefacts from the Palaeolithic Age. The museum is located in a mosque built in the nineteenth century.
There are other places within the prefecture that must be visited like the emerald valley of Agia, peaceful and beautiful Stomio with its bottomless springs, and Agiokambos along with its enormous beaches.
