Attractions and Places to visit Lefkáda

Lefkada boasts of some very colourful and beautiful beaches in the region. Most of the beaches are surrounded by cliffs and picturesque conditions. The perfect wind condition of the island makes the beaches an excellent venue for windsurfing and kite surfing. Some of these beaches are Porto Katsiki, Kathisma, Agios Nikitas, Pefkoulia, Nikiana and Vassiliki.

Of the various monuments in Lefkada, the St. Maura Castle is most impressive. Situated at the entrance of the island, it is one of the most imposing castles of its era and is an excellent example of mediaeval fortress architecture.

The Orpheus Society Folk Art Museum houses an interesting collection of exhibits like Lefkadian textile, the Lefkadian loom, traditional costumes etc.

Lefkada hosts several festivities in the month of August celebrating art and literature. It also has an International Folklore Festival. Together, it provides for a very unique and artistic experience.
