Nafplio: Attractions and more...
The town of Nafplio is picturesque and is surrounded by three forts. The most dominating and most recent of them is Palamidi fortress. It is still in very good condition and can be reached by either climbing around a thousand steps or by car. On reaching the top of the fortress, one can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view. Another fortress is Bourdzi which is located on an island. It is also the venue for the folk music festival held in May/June.
Due to its location next to the Gulf, Nafplio also has beaches. These beaches can be visited for their scenic beauty.
Those interested in learning more about the town can visit the Nafplio Popular Art Museum which is devoted to textile craft. The Archaeological Museum of Nafplio houses exhibits from the town and the surrounding areas.
Every year Nafplio hosts the Musical August Festival. It includes a variety of musical performances.
