The Castle Hill was constructed by the Duke of Naxos Sanoudos in the 13th century. The sections of two classical temples and three archaic temples from the ancient town were used to build the walls of this castle. The only temple which survived was the Temple of Athena which is located at the top of a hill. In the region surrounding the Castle Hill are houses that were the possession of Venetian noblemen.
