Tourist Guide Patras
Patras, located in Peloponnesus, is the third largest city in Greece. Also referred to as ‘Greece’s Gate to the West’, Patras houses a population of about 200,000 inhabitants. Patras was crowned the ‘European Capital of Culture’ in 2006 and is also a major commercial centre of the country.
The city has a Mediterranean climate, which has moderate temperatures overall. Patras experiences warm summers with high levels of humidity. Winters are also mildly cool with no snowfall. It is best visited in winters.
Patras has a rich history, both culturally as well as commercially. It was a major cosmopolitan centre during the Roman times. Since, the city has developed rapidly and boasts of a strong economy with tourism, retail and construction as the main industries.
