Santorini is a small island that is located in the southern region of Aegean Sea in Greece. The island is famous for its splendid beaches and magnificent mystic aura and possess characteristic that are stunning and unique.
The churches of Santorini are known for their architectural style and give a glimpse of the western influence. The façade of the churches and cathedrals are dominated by the presence of the twin bell towers. From the excavations, priceless icons, fossils and stately homes, Santorini has a rich history and tradition.
The historical and cultural archaeological museum of Santorini contains beautiful artifacts from excavations on the island. The museum was built in 1960 and has noteworthy collection of red and black vases. It also hosts impressive culture and art work of prehistoric times. The museum of Prehistoric Thira, Megaro Gyzi Cultural Center, Naval Maritime Museum and Lignos Folklore Museum are other places visited by many tourists in Santorini.
The archaeological sites, the Wall paintings of Thira, Boutari winery and the ancient Akrotiri are some other places that have earned a reputation of being the major tourist attractions in Santorini.
