Skopelos: Attractions and more...
The Folklore Museum of Skopelos is the foremost attraction in the region which is housed in a traditional building. It houses some of the best handiworks made in the twentieth century like embroidered clothes, weaved pieces and decorative articles. The collection is highly reminiscent of the past culture.
Skopelos has some truly magnificent beaches, of which most popular are the Agios Ioannis Beach and the Armenopetra Beach, the former having a beautiful monastery perched high on its rocks.
Visitors can revel in the Skopelos Carnival which is a vivid and colourful event celebrated to keep the tradition alive. Dance, food and drinking, parades, people in carnival costumes and the spirit of joy are the evident components of this 12-day event.
Also famous for its monasteries and churches, Skopelos is an enthralling place. The Holy Monastery of Evangelistria, Metamorfosis Monastery and Ayios Taxiarkhos Monastery are the most notable.
