The Archaeological Museum of the city is a place of learning and culture. It was built in 1962 by architect Patroklos Karadinos who drew the plans and in 1980, it acquired a new wing which housed the exhibitions from the Vergina tombs until 1997. At present, the collections include Archaic to Late Roman sculptures from Macedonia and Thessaloniki which are displayed in the central section of the museum.
