The Bishop’s Castle and the Episcopal Palace are one of the oldest buildings of the city. There is a display of relics showcasing the life and work of the Bishop who was killed here. The Gyor Basilica is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in Hungary. The Gothic-style Saint Laszlo Chapel is especially renowned for the gilded silver statue of the Saint. The Diocesan Treasury has a huge collection of articles cast in gold and silver, old religious books, textiles and other treasures highlighting the development of art over the centuries.
Gyor is also known for its therapeutic thermal baths; there are three thermal wells in the city from where the water is drawn. These facilities can be availed of at the Rába-Quelle Bath in the city centre.
Gyor is known as the city of festivals. Most popular among these are the ‘Spring Festival’, a festival of music, song and dance and the ‘Summer of Gyor Festival’ with theatre, jazz and ballet performances.
