Hungarian National Museum is situated at 1088 Budapest, Múzeum krt. 14-16, Hungary. It is open on Tuesdays to Sundays from 10AM to 6PM, while Monday is a holiday.
Founded in 1802, the museum hosts seven permanent displays. The first one covers the glorious history of Hungary from its foundation up to 1990 middle-ages.
It covers displays such as the Turkish age, the age of Arpads, the Royal Hungary and others. Another exhibition displays modern and contemporary history. ‘On the East-West Frontier’ exhibit deals with the history of Hungarian lands.
A coronation mantle and jewels can also be found here. Various relics and carvings of stone are displayed in one of the exhibitions while the last one is the Roman Lapidary exhibit. The museum also has a vast archaeological library with more than 100000 volumes.
There is a garden in the museum premises which is used for various concerts and festivals.
