The Chain Bridge is known to be one of the most significant landmarks of Budapest. This magnificent suspension bridge crosses through the Danube River connecting the Buda and Pest cities. It is 375 meter long and around 16 meter wide. Opened in 1849, the bridge is one of the factors that made the provincial towns of Buda and Pest into one fast growing metropolitan, Budapest. Also known as Széchenyi Chain Bridge or Széchenyi lánchíd, the bridge is named after a main supporter of its construction, István Széchenyi. The designer of this bridge was William Tierney Clark. The material used in making of this bridge is wrought iron and stone.
