Tourist Guide Eger
Situated in the North of Hungary, its population is about 60,000 on 92,2 Km2 of area and its altitude is 171 metres on sea level.
The county it belongs to is Heves.
It is at east of Matra mountains; during middle ages it was inhabited by German and Slavonic tribes, but there are few remains, because in 19th century a fire destroyed a half of the town.
It also has an industrial part, Lajosvaros, where many multinational companies have a representative.
But there are some garden area, plains and mountains, at the same time.
Nowadays, it’s a popular tourist destination; churches, castles and historical buildings (especially Turkish Minaret) are the most attractive places of the town.
It’s full of Baroque architecture; squares are decorated with flowers, especially in the centre of the town.
People are so hospitable and kind.

Eger offers delicious food and excellent wines:cuisine is unique because it is influenced from Turks, Germans, French, Austrians, Czechs, Slovaks, Serbians, and Croatians: traditional Hungarian cuisine is for those with hearty appetites. It’s quite popular peppery fish soup, strudels and cakes.
Temperature range is -3°:30°C, summer is warm, but in winter temperatures approache freezing.
