Lake Balaton is the largest fresh water lake in Central Europe, and a popular tourist destination. Due to Hungary being landlocked, it is often referred to as the Hungarian Sea. On this short break from Budapest we will explore this region with a private local guide.
in Factory in Herend. Finally reaching Balatonfured; a small historic town on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. Take a walk in the town, visit our monuments and sights, wander in the surrounding hills and enjoy the sunset as it reflects on the water of the lake.
The next day we will cross the lake to the historic town of Siklos and visit its castle. Villany is the country of the cellars and high quality wines. We will have a chance to visit the canteen of the golden medal priced Bock House and enjoy wine tasting. Then arriving in Pecs for an overnight. Pécs has been selected to be the European Capital of Culture in 2010 sharing the title together with Essen and Istanbul.
