It was founded in the year 1981. The museum aims towards collecting photographic material and preserving it. Visitors can see some of the historical photographs of Iceland in this city run museum. The museum has hosted some of the greatest collection of photographs generated by local artists.
Though the museum mainly aims at local talent, it also provides a platform for international artists. This is an ideal place to visit for people of all ages. One can see various emotions, features and scenic beauty captured in the colored and black and white photographs.
The museum remains open on all days, from 10 am to 4 pm.
