One of the city’s major landmarks is the impressive site of Kells Priory. The place houses various ruins which date back to the twelfth century. It has been the site of several wars and gives an insight to the eventful history of the place.
The Kilkenny Castle is a spectacular fortress and a major tourist attraction. The guided tours take the visitors through the art galleries, impressive halls, lush rose gardens and a play area, all situated in the castle. The popular Butlers Gallery is housed in this castle.
