Towards the left of Corn Market Street, there is St Patrick Street which is the main shopping street. This street was built over an old arm of the river and extends to a wide arc to St Patrick Bridge. St. Patrick Street is affectionately known as ‘Pana’ by older Corkonians. This is also situated in the heart of the city of Cork. Since its redevelopment in 2004, it has twice won the best shopping street of Ireland.
