Written by Francis Sylvester Mahony, this place is a popular landmark worth of a visit. The name derives from the Gaelic term, “Sean Dun”, which means the “Old Fort”. When one approaches the Shandon place, they can see the red and white colored stone of St Anne’s church. This is a popular church here which received its parchial status in the year 1772.
