Tourist Guide Downpatrick
Downpatrick, meaning Patrick’s fort, is a historic town in the Down County in Northern Ireland. An approximate population of 11,000 people occupies this region, earlier known as Rath Celtair. The town is known to be the burial place of Saint Patrick and is now, a place of pilgrimage.
The climate in this region is mild and sunny throughout the year. Summers are warm to hot while winters are pleasant and not exceedingly cold. The sun shines even through the rains and the humidity levels are pretty low.
The city is among the oldest regions in Ireland, its earliest reference being marked in 130 AD. Agriculture has been the major activity since ancient times. However, in recent times, most of the population works in the nearby area of Belfast. In terms of industry, the town does not have much to boast of.
