Located in the heart of the city, the Saint Patrick Visitor Centre hosts a permanent exhibition on Saint Patrick. The place also consists of a tourist information centre, a crafts shop and an art gallery.
The Down Cathedral, located on the Cathedral Hill, is an ancient site which houses various inscribed granite rocks that take you back to the ancient era.
Wildlife enthusiasts can revel in the Seaforde Gardens wherein the Butterfly House is home to exotic species of butterflies apart from reptiles and insects. A herb garden, a viewing tower and a children’s playground are also housed here.
The Down County Museum features an excellent collection of excavated artefacts and Bronze Age gold. Interestingly, the place where the museum is housed was formerly a jail. Owing to this fact, there are life-size figures of jail personnel housed in the museum.
The McNaughton Gallery and the Armagh County Museum are other delightful places to visit.
