The Trinity College Library is the largest library in Ireland.

The Trinity College Library houses manuscripts and books that date back to the sixteenth century. The library was established in the year 1592 and has almost 5 million volumes of maps, books, manuscripts and music. The Book of Kells and the Book of Durrow are the most notable among library’s collections. Other important collections are that of Ussher and Fagel.

A researcher’s paradise, the Trinity College Library provides information to university students, government departments, research organizations etc. Moreover, the eighteenth-century buildings with their lush green lawns and huge rooms attract many tourists. The Old Library and the Long Room, decorated beautifully with marble structures and busts of famous writers and philosophers, are a must see.
