The most outstanding attraction of the town is the old Franciscan structure of the Ennis Abbey, notable for its tomb-sculpture. ‘The Cloister on Abbey Street’ built into the walls and garden of Ennis Abbey, is one of Ireland’s finest hotels.
The Pro-Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the Ennis Friary constructed in 1242, St. Columba’s Church and a monument dedicated to Irish national hero Daniel O'Connell are some of the other noteworthy monuments here.
Late in May each year, Ennis hosts the Fleadh Nua, which is the second largest traditional music festival in Ireland. The Ennis Trad Festival held in November is a treat for exponents of traditional Irish music of the highest quality, in its most natural setting. The County Show, in July every year, witnesses horses and livestock competing for coveted titles, along with other arts and crafts events and games for children.
