The Galway Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral situated in Galway and known as one of the impressive and largest buildings in the city. This cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of the Diocese of Galway, Kilfenora and Kilmacduagh. This historic building was constructed in 1958 on the site of city jail and in 1964 was dedicated to Mary, mother of Jesus and St Nicholas by Cardinal Richard Cushing.
