Reviews The Nora Barnacle House and Museum
The Nora Barnacle House and Museum
You didn’t think Galway was just fantastic pubs and bars, did you? The city is also home to the Nora Barnacle House Museum on Bowling Street. Built in the 1800s, it was the home where James Joyce’s true love first lived, and was the Barnacle family home until 1940. Restored to its former character, the house and museum has many personal photographs, objects, and articles, including love letters sent from Nora to Ireland’s most prominent writer of all time, before she became his wife.
The museum is open from 10:00am to 1:00pm and then from 2:00pm to 5:00pm daily. Admission is 2.50 EUR for adults and 2 EUR for children (children under six are free). For more information, contact +353 (0) 91 56 4743.
