Kinsale: Attractions and more...
Kinsale is famously described as the ‘Gourmet Capital of Ireland’. ‘The Good Food Circle’, an association of restaurants that was formed about 30 years ago, ensures a quality dining experience here.
Apart from facilities for sailing and other aquatic sports, the town has three golf courses, including the world-famous Old Head course.
The popular attractions here are St. Multose Church, a pre-Reformation, twelfth-century church, the Courthouse (Town Museum), which houses various artefacts, Desmond Castle (the French Prison), which is now ‘The International Museum of Wine’, the star-shaped Charles' Fort, built in 1670, and James Fort.
Every year in October, this town hosts the culinary event The Festival of Autumn Flavours attracting huge crowds. There are also others, like the Kinsale Vintage Car Rally in May, Kinsale Arts Week in July and the Shark (Advertising) Awards Festival in September, to name a few.
