St. John’s Church in Tralee is perhaps one of the most beautiful gothic-style churches in all of Ireland, most noted for its deep spiritual atmosphere and connection with the local community. The chapel dates back to 1780, with some of its original foundations and artifacts such as the Holy Water font, the Our Lady of the Wayside statue, and the gables of the 18th century building are still standing. The large, 200-foot tower in front of the church dates back from 1870, as well. The church is well maintained and one of the popular churches in the area with big crowds during weekend masses.
St. John’s Church is located on Castle Street in Tralee. For more information, mass schedules and parish events, check out www.stjohns.ie or call +353 66 712 2522. Group tours are available by request.
