Waterford: Attractions and more...

The village of Dunmore East in Waterford provides excellent facilities for water sports. A must-see is the Waterford Crystal Visitors Centre, home of the Waterford Crystal company.

One of the most important and oldest urban structures in Waterford is Reginald’s Tower, named after the city’s founder Regnall. The Waterford Museum of Treasures on Merchant’s Quay has a huge collection of memorabilia on the city’s 1,000-year-old history.

Unique to the city’s culinary delight is the blaa, a bun-like piece of bread, believed to have been introduced by Huguenot refugees in the late 1600s. The Brasserie Orange and La Palma restaurants are recommended for their delectable treats.

The annual Spraoi Theatre Festival, in summer, attracts huge crowds. The Waterford International Festival of Light Opera has been held in the Theatre Royal for more than four decades now. In 2005, the city hosted the Tall Ships Race attracting about 4,50,000 people.
